How running has changed me:
I have so much more confidence in what I am capable of achieving since I started running and up’g my distances. I was never really an athlete but decided to start running for fitness with my husband a few years after marriage. What started with a few miles around the block turned into race after race, until I tackled my first marathon last year. It’s always a little intimidating to sign up for that extra mile or set a new speed goal, but as I see my improvement over time I can’t stop shooting a little higher! It’s something anyone can do and build over time. And it feels so darn good!!
Why I joined RRC:
I found joy in long-distance running because of my running buddies. They invited me to join the running club group on Saturdays. And there I met so many other fantastic runners to keep the miles entertaining!
Why I run:
It’s my physical outlet (especially in times I have been cooped up so much!) and often my opportunity to socialize and “vent” with my running buds.
When I run:
It depends on what the day brings! I love an early morning run in the summers but as the days grow darker I find myself waiting for the sunshine if I can. ; )
Where I run:
There is a hill by my house that is almost a mile long. I have a love-hate relationship with it because as tough as it can be to conquer it, I always feel amazing at the top! I also love the out and back on the trail from the RAC to silver lake – many great girlie chats were had in the route!
When I run, my must have:
On windy days -the Houdini jacket. That thing is so light and mighty!
My running goal:
I mostly want to keep having fun, while pushing myself to not stay too complacent with my speeds or distances. It’s been great to make running friends that challenge themselves; it’s shown me that I can have both-the push AND have fun!
