My running career began back in high school when the CC coach found me loitering in the hall and forced me to run for her. At the time, I called CC “hell in a bucket”. It took a couple more years for me to love it, and here I am – more years later than I’d care to admit. I had a couple of somewhat difficult pregnancies when I didn’t run but started up again after my daughter was born when a friend convinced me to fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by running a half marathon (my father died from chronic lymphocytic leukemia). I became hooked again. Trail running and pacing are special loves of mine, with the 10-mile loop at Chester Woods a little slice of heaven right here on earth.

I like to find solutions for problems. I’m a hard worker. I hope I’m easy to get along with, and I know how to compromise.

I’ve helped with numerous races. Along with several others, I have worked on the RRC Facebook page. I’m happy to pace, set up for races, and do my part wherever it is needed.

I played Division 1 Tennis at Iowa State University and didn’t start running until after I graduated college. It started as a way to maintain my fitness and proved to be a great stress reliever during Physical Therapy School. I quickly fell in love with the sport and have enjoyed
running for the past 15 years. I have done a few half marathons, but really just enjoy running and joining RRC group runs when able. As a busy working Mom of 2 daughters, it’s a simple way to maintain my fitness. I love taking the girls in the stroller and enjoying our beautiful
trail system.

I currently work as a Physical Therapist at ActivePT and am a Certified Running Coach through the Road Runners Club of America. I think I would be able to use my connection with ActivePT and Physical Therapy knowledge to enhance the offerings of the RRC. I attend a lot of events that are put on by RRC and would love to help out with these and help spread the word, especially now that Rochester is a certified RRCA Runner Friendly Community.

I struggled with being overweight when I was growing up. I tried everything to be more fit, then I saw the Forrest Gump movie in 8th grade, and I too just felt like running. I ran around the block twice and was hooked. I joined the high school team the next year. I ran in college at St. Mary’s and then continued my running career as a CC and track
coach at high schools where I taught. I still run many races around MN and am getting into triathlons now as well.

I can help organize running events and races. I have experience doing this as a coach at the high school and college levels. I also would love to continue to grow the membership. When I moved to town this was one of the best ways for me to get connected. I am very inclusive, and I am looking for ways to help bring new people on board to help them feel like
they belong. I am a small business owner and I spend my days talking with other small business owners. I can provide outreach to potential sponsors for events.

I am curious to learn more about what Promotions include. I also have experience building a website. I built a website for the track and field team for the purpose of communicating with parents and the community as well as alumni outreach.

Mom said I was always running as a kid (from dogs, trouble, housework). She didn’t know there were a few years I was wishing I was a horse (that would solve housework). In the 1980s my little sister  Teresa, a former CC runner, coached me to run ‘distance’ as in >2 telephone poles. Her influence led to 3-mile runs, then 4 miles, and then other running friendships. Eventually, that led to 10 miles, 20K’s and half’s (60?), and eventually to marathons (16) and volunteering for RRC. I’d still like to be a horse.

I was an active Board member for many years. Serving as Treasurer for several years and co-directing a couple of RRC races. Currently, I do clerical support for membership and club emails and assist the current RRC Treasurer as needed. I have proficiency with the club’s technical tools (Constant Contact, JotForm, PayPal,
Quicken and Excel) and work experience in project
planning, business, and data analysis. I have narrow
experience with WordPress & Divi (used for the RRC
website).

I enjoy supporting the club in clerical and treasurer roles and in a variety of physical activities.
