FAQ

Are the courses USATF certified?

Yes — both the 5K and half marathon are held on USATF-certified courses, measured with Jones-Oerth devices following road tangents (more accurate than GPS, which only records position every 1–20 seconds).

Are the courses flat?

Yes.

Where can I park?

Free ramp and meter parking is available downtown (meters are free after 5 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends). Soldiers Memorial Field has limited parking — check posted restrictions. Mayo Clinic lots, the area east of Snappy Stop, and nearby residential streets are also options.

Can I run both the 5K and half marathon?

No — the 5K starts after the half marathon and runs concurrently with it.

Can I walk the course?

Yes — or hop, skip, juggle, and dance your way to the finish. There is a 4-hour limit for the half marathon.

Are strollers, dogs, or wheeled gear allowed?

No. Our insurance prohibits strollers, dogs (service animals only), inline skates, skateboards, bicycles, and scooters on the course.

Will the race accommodate wheelchairs or hand cyclists?

Yes — wheelers and hand cyclists start 10 minutes before the other runners. Please notify the race director in advance.

What's at each water stop?

The 5K has one stop with water and Gatorade. The half marathon has seven stops, also with water and Gatorade in distinguishable cups.

Is there a bag check?

Yes, in the start/finish area at Soldiers Memorial Field. Label your bag with your name and race number. Items are left at participant’s risk.

What food is at the post-race celebration?

Water, Gatorade, chocolate milk (half marathon only), bananas, chips, salted nut rolls, and Reichel Foods snack packs. We order food quantities for runners only — please save the post-race refreshments for participants.

Is the course closed to traffic?

No — there may be light traffic on the road portions. Course marshals and police officers are stationed throughout to keep runners safe. The finish line inside the track is vehicle-free.

Is there a headphones policy?

Headphone use is allowed at your own risk. Please remove them or pause your music when approaching an officer or course marshal.

Can I switch distances or transfer my registration?

Yes, up to one week before race day, via the online registration. Switch fee is $6.50 online; $15 at packet pickup; no changes on race day. Registration transfers to another participant are also allowed up to one week before race day for a $10 fee.

Can I get a refund?

No. Race fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to next year’s race or another event.

Can I pick up my friend's packet?

Yes, with proper identification and authorization from the registered runner.

How is the relay timed?

Relay teams use a race belt with an embedded timing chip that passes from runner 1 to runner 2 at the exchange. Belts must be returned immediately after finishing — a $30 fee applies if lost.

When and where will results be posted?

As soon as they’re verified, on the RRC Race Results page.

Are there opportunities to volunteer?

Yes — volunteers are needed for packet pickup, course marshal duty, water stations, the start, and the finish area. Volunteers must be at least 14 (10 if accompanied by an adult); start and finish line positions allow children as young as 12 with adult supervision. Contact the race director below to sign up.
