New in 2023!
Rochester Running Club is happy to announce we’ve hired TerraLoco to Captain our Saturday Morning Training Runs (SMTR)! Collaborating with TerraLoco makes it possible for RRC to continue to offer SMTR – a terrific program that has been faced with increasing challenges due to volunteer burnout.
As a result of this change, RRC’s SMTR group runs will meet in TerraLoco (instead of the Rochester Athletic Club parking lot). The store & restroom will be open at 7am. At 7:15am, following announcements and the route overview, runners should be heading out the door. TerraLoco’s address is 1190 16th St SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
Additionally, because of the new location, RRC volunteers are actively designing SMTR route loops & aid station locations that will help ensure runners of all paces are able to obtain access to hydration and support in a reasonable period of time.
RRC’s Spring training schedule prepares runners for Med City Marathon (May 12-13) and Grandma’s (June 17) events. The 2023 Spring SMTR season will run from Feb. 11th through June 10th. There is no SMTR on May 6th (due to Spring Classic races) or May 13th (due to Med City races).
As in the past, all SMTR participants are required to sign a waiver for the season. We also ask runners to contribute toward the cost of the SMTR program. Use the link below to sign the online waiver. Recommended contribution levels:
$20/season for RRC members
$30/season for non-members
$3 per Saturday
The waiver includes links for online payment and Venmo.
Cash is also accepted during SMTR check-in.
***Contributions are honor-based: runners who are unable to pay will not be identified or turned away.
While Terra Loco will take over many of the weekly SMTR responsibilities, we will still need some volunteers to staff and/or help set-up and retrieve aid stations. We would like every participant to volunteer at least once each year.
